With the arrival of the Buddha now, the radiance of rainbow and blooming flowers is here too. The beautiful moon is out at this hour too and speaking of which, “Wa Sha” in the Chandraprabha mantra “Wa Sha Ama Dawa Yana” means moon. Chandraprabha (Moon Light) Bodhisattva is often seen with Suryaprabha (Sun Light) Bodhisattva, as the two siblings serve Bhaisajyaguru (Medicine Buddha). Suryaprabha, in uncountable lives in the past was deeply in love with Chandraprabha and wished only to get a glimpse of her. At that time, the beauty of Chandraprabha was unsurpassable. When she strolls outside at night, even the light from the moon paled against her beauty. The earth, mountain and streams would sing and move for her. Her name at that time was “Wa Sha Ama”, meaning Moon maiden.

Therefore, in many life times, Suryaprabha had been courting Chandraprabha but the effort proved to be futile and always ended unsuccessfully. This is because both of them lacked the little bit of affinity to be together. Every time, they would miss each other by a little bit. For example, there was a life time when Suryaprabha was a tree cutter in forest. Upon seeing Chandraprabha walking past in the forest, he immediately tried to pursue her. However, that failed as Chandraprabha who was a royalty then had the convenience of chariots and escorts. They were able to travel fast while Suryaprabha had to give chase on foot. Then there was another occasion when Suryaprabha managed to catch up but due to Chandraprabha being a princess at that time, he was not able to see her and got arrested by her bodyguards.

Feeling miserable and disappointed Suryaprabha was gazing upon the night sky and happen to see a bright moon. In his thought, he was asking for the marriage of the beautiful moon and wished that they could be together He thought to himself, “If we are able to get together, by holding my hand and we will together cross the ocean of birth and death on my vessel. May we escape the darkness of the world and welcome the brightness of liberation.” He was repeating this thought in his mind and after countless repetitions, he saw the Buddha passing by. He approached the Buddha and asked, “O Lord Buddha, you are here and the flowers are blooming magnificently; the flowers wilt after you have left the place. As such, after you left, when can the flowers bloom again?” Buddha replied Suryaprabha, “The blooming of the flowers starts from the confidence in you. If you have confidence in you, the flower will in no doubt bloom.” Suryaprabha asked Buddha again, “If I have such confidence, when will I be able to see my moon?”

Buddha replied, “You will need to chant a mantra, Wa Sha Ama Dawa Yana.” The “Dawa Yana” in the mantra means the twinkling of the moon’s light. This mantra will move Chandraprabha and she will then fall in love with you. You will be together with her and from then on, you will need to cultivate with me for 50 million life times before you can get married to her and become husband and wife. As such, Chandraprabha and Suryaprabha got together and under the tutelage of the Buddha then, cultivated for countless life times. Eventually, both of them were reborn in the Pure Land and got married, became close partners, and even became the two great Bodhisattvas who accompanied the Medicine Buddha. If you all desire a happy relationship with your spouse, then you should chant this mantra, “Wa Sha Ama Dawa Yana.”

In this mantra, “Wa Sha Ama” means Chandraprabha; “Dawa Yana” means the path to enlightenment and Buddhahood. When the phrases are put together as a single sentence, it means, Chandraprabha Bodhisattva will lead you all to the path of liberation and enlightenment. If one chants this mantra earnestly, a relationship will not be broken by a third party. For lay persons, after the chanting of this mantra, they will gain the realization that all third parties and extra-marital affairs are nothing more than illusions and dust where its existence is purely fabricated and does not have inherent substance. The mantra also bestows harmony, happiness and reuniting of the family. For married couples, this mantra will ward off all negative factors of their relationship and reinforce the harmony and happiness in the family. For singles, they will be able to find themselves to  be good looking and righteous suitors. Therefore, I am now transmitting this dharma gate to you all.
