Master’s Dharma speech on “Bright Light Luck Transforming Talisman + Medicine Buddha Vajra Lotus Pagoda Candle”. Bright Light Luck Transformation Mantra: Dharma Cakra Bodhi Hum

Video 1:
“Dharma Cakra Bodhi Hum. Dharma Cakra Bodhi Hum. Dharma Cakra Bodhi Hum”. This is the luck transformation of bright light. The sadness and despair shall be turned away while turning in joy and happiness. The sudden death and short lifespan shall be turned away while turning in longevity. The bad fortune shall be turned away while turning in good luck. Thus, one can live their life free of afflictions, full of happiness, joy, free, and in contentment.

Every step is a bodhi,
Every step progresses towards the Western direction,
Every step is a liberation,
Meeting Buddha in the morning,
Offering flowers to Buddha,
Listen and follow Buddha’s teachings,
Learn to meditate in silence,
Avoid committing wrongful acts by abiding to the precepts,
Every step with lotus flower blooming,
Come and go without any clinging and attachment.

This is a collection of pointers for cultivation. If you can understand each pointer fully, you can become enlightened. Where can you attain enlightenment? It is right under your feet. “Guo Qu Xin Bu Ke De, Xian Zai Xin Bu Ke Zhu, Wei Lai Xin Bu Ke Qiu” (Neither the past, present, and future mind can be found residing at, acquired, and seek). The mind of the past is one that creates negative karma. The present mind is an enlightened one. The future mind is one that is free of afflictions and has attained liberation. Such is the way of cultivation, i.e., by opening our eyes. Where did this mantra come from? This mantra has a corresponding hand mudra. It represents the luck transformation of bright light. Its benefits include pacifying calamities and disasters, subdue demons, and reducing our karmic obstacles. Thus, one can reduce the karmic retributions of heavy negative karma. They can change the blur, foggy, hazy, and lost mind that ceaselessly creates negative karma. Hence, their bad habits can be corrected, make strong and vigorous cultivation progress, enter the “Da Ai” (Greater love) of Buddha Dharma, delve deep into the Tripitaka collections and gain wisdom as vast as the ocean.

What is delving deep into the Tripitaka and gain wisdom as vast as the ocean? There are three vehicles in Buddha Dharma, i.e., Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayana. In Theravada teachings, liberation is the primary focus. We aim for liberation and turn all our speeches into words of liberation. We shall not wait for the 2nd or 3rd sentence but becoming liberated with the first sentence.

Mudra: Both hands clasped, left thumb over right thumb, index fingers placed apart, middle fingers touching and moving the tips apart at intervals, ring fingers and pinky fingers clasped as per pictures.

(Refer to video for Master’s demonstration) This mudra is for “Guan Ding” (Abhiseka, transmittance of teachings). I shall perform the transmittance of teachings to all of you now. Hence, your mind of creating negative karma, complicated mind, foggy, confused, and hazy mind, can be transformed into an enlightened mind, liberated mind, and mind that is free of any afflictions. We should become enlightened, awakened, and realize their wisdom. We should unlock the steel cage that traps us in it. Please refrain from putting ourselves inside the cage or safe.

Mahakasyapa

Where did this mantra originate from, i.e., the mantra of “Dharma Cakra Bodhi Hum”? Mr. Chin? This mantra is from the Tripitaka sutra collection. Who was the holy being who gave the dharma discourse that resulted in this sutra? Kenny? It is okay that you don’t know, you will find out later. Nana? The holy being is the Venerable Mahakasyapa. When did he give the dharma discourse? It was mentioned in the “Jie Tuo San Wei Jing” (literally translated as the Samadhi of Liberation Sutra). He was sitting at the side when Buddha was giving dharma teachings to the group. At a certain point during the dharma session, Mahakasyapa said, “Sentient beings are in intense pain and suffering. Many Indian people live in poverty and their dead bodies laid everywhere on the ground. There were endless conflicts and wars as more than ten Indian kingdoms fought among themselves every day. The blood spilled could form rivers and sea. Every stretch of road traveled is filled with the foul odor of dead bodies.” Furthermore, he asked Buddha, “Why are the people in India living in such poverty conditions and suffering from such despair?” Mr. Chin? Kenny? Why? Buddha replied, “There is a flaw, a weakness, a problem of the people in India. They like to build their temples in such a way that the Buddha statues are put outside.” Did you notice this? You can see in every Indian temple that the statues of deities are put outside and is linked to the external structure. Why is this? This is their architectural style, culture, and customs. Why did they build in such a way? Who is the Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, Ganesh, Ganapathi, Indra, Subramaniam, Durga, Mahakali and so on? There are so many Hindu deities, why put them outside the temple? Why subject them to the elements, i.e., wind, rain, and so on? There is no respect for the Buddha statues and deities as they put them under the elements. Do you think the statues will be damaged? Of course, they will. Think about it. If the statues are damaged and worn out, do you think the deities will offer their protection? They cannot even protect themselves; how do you expect them to take care of you and protect you? The people are too naive and wishful.

Mohandas Gandhi

This water is Gandhi. Have you heard of Gandhi? Who is he? He saved India and was revered as a hero. This water contained a message from the spirit of Gandhi. He expressed his gratitude to me for “Chew Toh” (Transfer of merits for the deceased) for him. He can now be reborn in the Western Pure Land. He is very happy now if not he will still be suffering if he were to rely on the Hindu deities only. Why is this? This is because the Hindu deities are put outside their temple or roof. By putting the statues on the roof, it looks like as if they are thieves. Furthermore, the statues are subjected to the beatings of the elements and become worn out and damaged. Thus, how can people expect to benefit and be protected by their deities? This is like Buddha Dharma. We should cherish all affinity with people. Otherwise, how far can they go? Even if they enter our cultivation center, their mind is left in the samsara. If so, please go back to your mundane world. We do not ask for you to stay. Our doors are always opened. People with affinity may enter; those without can leave freely. Despite this, look around, the number of people here are still aplenty. Why is this? This is because where there is Buddha Dharma, there is a way or method to resolve problems. The Buddha is holding your hand and walking together towards Pure Land. Mahakasyapa requested Buddha to help the people out of misery and suffering. The Buddha replied Mahakasyapa, “You can chant this mantra for others. “Om Dharma Cakra Bodhi Hum”. This mantra can change our path, life, personality, thinking, and bad habits. Our mind of creating negative karma can be transformed into a mind that bring benefits to others. We come here to accumulate merits and not to gossip, create rumors, mislead others with fake news. It is uncalled for as people are committing the deeds, it is observed by the heavens and awaiting karmic effects.

(Refer video for Master’s demonstration) Do you know what mudra is this? This is the Samadhi of Zen Meditation mudra. The next one is the Samadhi of Guiding mudra, also is the Samadhi of Radiating Light mudra. This is the mudra that severs your affinity with samsara. (Refer to video for Master’s mudra demonstration) I shall do it again. This is the Samadhi of Zen Meditation mudra. You shall become calm and enter a state that is free of mental afflictions. You shall stop hearing gossips about others. Your mind shall be unwavering and will not regress. You will make vigorous and strong progress in cultivation and advance towards rebirth in Pure Land. All hindrances and temptations of samsara shall cease from today onward. The five desires of wealth, form, fame, benefits, and sleep, and the five poisons of greed, hatred, ignorance, doubt, and sloth-torpor shall cease too. You will possess the “San Wei Zhen Huo” (True Flame of Samadhi). What is “San Wei Zhen Huo”? When you form this mudra, and sit to meditate in silence, true flame of samadhi will appear from your body. Kenny, have you heard of this? When Arahants enter nirvana, they possess this “San Wei Zhen Huo” too. They get rid of their form of ignorance, form of creating negative karma, and form of a layperson. They enter a state of dharma form. What is dharma form? When you are meditating on the ground, lotus flowers bloom all over the ground. They come and go without clinging and attachment. Who said this? It is as told by Buddha.

Every grain of sand contains a Pure Land; every dust particle has a Buddha in it. (Refer video for Master’s demonstration) So, the first step is to invoke the Samadhi of Zen Meditation. The second mudra is to illuminate the world with Buddha’s light. The third mudra is guiding sentient beings to liberation and enlightenment. Therefore, our hands possess hand form. The form of our hands and the hand mudras are interchangeable. What we called hand form is also referred to as hand mudra. Here, although sounds similar, is not equivalent to “Prime Minister” (read as Shou Xiang in Chinese, same as hand form). The palmistry lines in our hands are what “Shou Xiang” (form of the hand) is. The lines tell me that cultivation should start as young as possible. Please refrain from waiting until one becomes 99 years old. It will be too late by then. Similarly, becoming a vegetarian should begin immediately and not wait till tomorrow or sometime in the future. Who knows you won’t be killed from a car accident later when you are returning home? Moreover, you might be bitten by a mosquito while returning home later and succumb to illness on the same night. This is because you might be killed by dengue fever, i.e., bitten by an Aedes mosquito. Who knows what will happen in the future? In addition, you might also be infected with Covid 19. Later, you will hear “dong, dong, chiang”, not from lion dance but funeral music that sends you off while you lie in a golden coffin.

Three events occurred when the Buddha was about to enter nirvana. Mr. Chin, please tell me what they were. Kenny? The events that happened when the Buddha was about to enter nirvana shocked and awed the world and Universe. The world was shaking at that time. There were six kinds of great shocks felt in the world. What were they? The Astasenas, Naga deity dharma protectors, guardian deities, Vajra, Wisdom Kings, Dakinis, Green Tara, White Tara, Black Tara, Yellow Tara and so on of samsara, gathered and came to send the Buddha off by putting their palms together. The Buddha’s coffin was spinning in a circle on the ground before finally soaring to the sky. It went up to the Kamadhatu devaloka (heavenly realm of desire), Rupadhatu (realm of form) and Arupadhatu (formless realm) before returning to Earth. Hence, the whole Universe was vibrating and illuminated in bright radiance. This is the first. What is the second? The Buddha’s coffin cover was opened automatically revealing a small part of the Buddha’s head. This is because Buddha wants to show his face to the heavenly devas, earth bound deities, and the deities of the seas. This is to let them see, pay respects, and prostrate to. That was also the last time they can see the Buddha. Thirdly, sandalwood fragrance emitted from the Buddha’s coffin and it’s aroma permeated every inch of ground and could reach as far as the heavens, and Pure Land. Amitabha Buddha even exclaimed that Sakyamuni Buddha was full of compassion as he showed his supernatural powers that inspired and mesmerized everyone. After that, Amitabha Buddha paid respects and prostrated to Sakyamuni Buddha in his Pure Land. He then said four words. Do you know what they are? I had taught you this before. It is “pay respects and homages to all Buddhas, offer praises to all Buddhas, request Buddha to remain in the world, turning the dharma wheel”. What happened after this? There is another event that was shocking. Kenny, have you forgotten? It was Mahakasyapa. He led 84,000 Arahants, among them were the Elder Arahants, Great Arahants, new Arahants, and Bhikku Arahants. Among the Arahants, there were those who attained liberation with wisdom, and those who attained liberation with hard work. They were all present when Buddha entered nirvana. Why were they present? They saw Buddha’s coffin cover opening by itself. Then, the Buddha’s legs were stretched and moved outside the coffin. This was to let Mahakasyapa touch his feet. Do you remember? There was another event. You might have forgotten about this. If you are reading sutras or researching them, please don’t just read one page. Instead, finish the whole sutra. I read them every day. Even if I am going blind, I will still be reading the sutras. When day breaks, my eyes are healed, and I could see again. Why is that? That is because Buddha treated and healed me. I say this every day, “O Buddha, please save me. Please save me. I am dying soon. I am turning blind again”.

Something shocking happened after that. The Buddha sat up before standing up while still in his coffin. Why did that happen? Steven? Heard you are exceptional, and you have entered “Fo Guan Shan”. You passed your test with flying results. Do enlighten us. The Buddha stood up and handed his robe to Mahakasyapa. The Buddha said, “After I enter nirvana, everyone shall treat the precepts as the Master. After I am gone, this robe shall be handed over to Maitreya Bodhisattva who is in the Tusita heaven now. Give him this robe and put it on him during the “Long Hua San Hui” (The assembly of Long Hua held by Maitreya Buddha in the future). When Maitreya Buddha comes into this world in the future, there will be no mountainous areas but only flat ground. Moreover, the lifespan of the human at that time is shockingly long, approximately 84,000 years. They possess enormous physique and can be as tall as 30 feet in height. Fragrance emits from their body. After all, they are all Buddhists, or the disciples of the Buddha who are longing for the arrival of Maitreya Buddha.

Maitreya Buddha

Has Maitreya Bodhisattva visited Earth? He manifested once on earth as the “Yin Zheng Da Shi” in China (Monk Yin Zheng) who carried a huge sack bag with him. He traveled everywhere with the large sack bag and sought alms wherever he traveled to. When he met young children, he summoned them over to him and gave them fruits, biscuits, rice, vegetables, toys, and money. At that time, Maitreya Bodhisattva slept on bridges to guide sentient beings towards liberation and enlightenment. Other bhikkhus asked him the reason for doing so despite the hot sun and called him a mad monk. Maitreya Bodhisattva replied, “I become mad every day and like to sleep here. This is because I can see the sky and what laid under. What lies under? It is where you will be reborn at. Hence, “Omitofo” shall send you off then.” This is true as the bhikkhus who insulted him were reborn in the hell realm. Please don’t assume that being a bhikkhu means certainty for rebirth in the heavens. You must be dreaming. I want you to know what “Hua Shen San Wei” (the Samadhi of body manifestation) is. If you can conjure a body manifestation, with it, you can enter the Samadhi of cross-dimension travelling. Thus, you can travel to the hell realm and see for yourself that there are many bhikkhus who are meditating there. They are all Tibetan bhikkhus or Lamas. They indulged in eating meat and fishes, and practiced Karmamudra techniques (makes use of sexual union with a physical or visualized consort as well as the practice of inner heat (tummo) to achieve a non-dual state of bliss and insight into emptiness). Do you know now? Please don’t mistakenly think that they are my friends. They are not but Tibetan Lamas. Nevertheless, I will still greet them with “Jashi Telek, Namaste.”

Thus, there were many miracles of Sakyamuni Buddha and till today they are clearly recorded in the manuscripts. The Buddha said to Mahakasyapa, “After I entered nirvana, please remember to pass my robe to Maitreya. In addition, there is a magical and wonderful mantra, i.e., the Luck changing Bright Light mantra. Please ask others to chant this regularly, “Dharma Cakra Bodhi Hum”. This mantra is not difficult. There are three corresponding mudras for this mantra. (Refer video for Master’s demonstration) This is the first version. Next, is the 2nd change. Finally, this is the 3rd version. Look, this is someone with caliber. I shall repeat the mudras again. (Refer to video). There are three alternating versions to this mudra, i.e., the first, second, and followed by the third. Why are there three alternating versions? Kenny? Mr. Chin? Nana? Yen Ling? It is because they are the bodhi of the three vehicles, i.e., Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayana. The first mudra was taught to Mahakasyapa, hence it is known as the mudra of Theravada. (Refer to video) The Mahayana mudra was transmitted to Vajrapani Bodhisattva. This is in fact the hand mudra of Vajrapani Bodhisattva. What about the Vajrayana mudra? It was transmitted to Maitreya Bodhisattva. Maitreya is well learned in Vajrayana. Do not underestimate him as his visualization techniques and mudras are exceptional. Do you know? Every time the Asuras disturb the heavens or the heavenly palaces, stopping Maitreya from giving dharma discourse, Maitreya will do this mudra. Then, tens of thousands of flames are conjured to burn the Asuras, tens of thousands of mountains are conjured to crush the Asuras, tens of thousands kind of poisonous water are conjured to spray on the Asuras, tens of thousands kind of dragons to bite the Asuras. The Asuras have no choice but retreat and never to return. Hence, one day in the future if you are visiting a Pasar Malam (night market) and encounter a robber with knife or gun who wants to rob and murder you, have no fear. (Refer to video) You can form this hand mudra. I can assure you that it will be effective as the robber will retreat and vanish immediately. Fire will appear to burn them, stones will crush them, poison water will spray on them so they will be blinded. It is most certainly effective. This is indeed a powerful mudra.

“Pay respects and homages to all Buddhas”. This is what they said last, “Pay respects and homages to all Buddhas, offer praises to all Buddhas, request Buddha to remain in the world, turning the dharma wheel”. Where is the Buddha? Has he ever left the world? One day, I was riding a boat and traveled thousands of miles on the sea. I was floating around while looking for an ice mountain. It was rumored that this ice mountain had vanished since tens of billions of years ago. Many Arahants were looking for this elusive ice mountain too. However, no one succeeded as it was located in a different space dimension. We entered a different space dimension and saw Mahakasyapa. He was surrounded by ten Nagas with their tails swinging. The swinging tails formed twisters or tornadoes that trapped the Asuras in its vortex before disposing them off to a distant place. Hence, the Asuras were prevented from creating havoc to the world, and our three realms of Kamadhatu devaloka, Rupadhatu, and Arupadhatu. Moreover, they cannot cause disturbances to our Astasenas, and our sincere desire to seek Buddha Dharma. We should seek liberation as mentioned in the “Jie Tuo San Wei Jing”. We paid respects to Mahakasyapa as he is an Arahant, the Great Arahant. Do you know that he took refuge under Sakyamuni Buddha when he was 100 years old? Do you know that? He followed Buddha for 20 years until he was 120 years old. He was by the Buddha’s side for 20 years. Mahakasyapa was older than Sakyamuni Buddha. There was one time when a palace offered meals. Long chairs were set for the monks. When the Buddha arrived, he did not sit in the middle but was seated at the side. The King asked the Buddha, “What are you not taking the center position of this seat?” The Buddha replied, “I cannot. A senior person is coming, and I have the utmost respect for him.” After saying that, Mahakasyapa also arrived. However, everyone knew he was arriving. Why is that? I want to give all of you a little test. Kenny let’s test your wisdom. Steven? The answer is because Mahakasyapa was walking with a staff that made a noise as he walked. Everyone who heard the sound of a walking staff knocking on the floor knew it was Mahaksyapa approaching. When I looked, I saw Mahakasyapa flying in a circle in the air, without his walking staff. I asked him, “Where is your walking staff?” Mahakasyapa replied, “I gave it to Maitreya as he will become old too in the future. He will need the walking staff.” He added, “I will bring you to the elusive ice mountain that no one can find. It is situated at the end of the world.” Truth is that our world does not have an edge. Beyond that is a different space dimension, i.e., the 4th, 5th dimension, or 6th dimension. So, we went with him. As we traveled there, Mahakasyapa gestured his hand to help others take refuge in the Triple Gem. Who was he helping to take refuge? They include the Nagas, mermaids, “Qi Lin” (mythical half dragon half horse creature), three-headed birds, and so on. Many translucent “Qi Lin”, Nagas, and such approached him to accept his help to take refuge in the Triple Gem.

Video 2:
Peculiarly, once they took the three refuges, Mahakasyapa’s hand moved in a circular motion and performed the Abhiseka, the Perfection of Abhiseka, Abhiseka of creating affinity, the Abhiseka of Lineage, Abhiseka of Theravada, Abhiseka of Mahayana, Abhiseka of the Perfection of Paramitas. After he completed the transmittance of teachings, the Nagas, “Qi Lin”, mermaids, Pegasus, two-headed birds vanished. “Lotus flowers bloomed everywhere, there is no clinging and attachment as one come and go”. Do you understand? The creatures had transformed into blooming lotus flowers and flew in the sky. Thus, I said, “Lotus flowers bloomed everywhere, there is no clinging and attachment as one come and go”. After that, Mahakasyapa asked me why I wanted to go to the ice mountain. I told him I wished to meet a great holy being there. He is now in the ice mountain, at the highest peak of the world. It is a place where no one can reach or know the direction to get there. Many planes and UFOs tried to find it but they disappeared as soon as they reach the Bermuda Triangle. Have you heard of it? The planes, flying saucers, and ships disappearing in the Bermuda Triangle. That is a mysterious place. At that place, when the angle and time matches, you can be transported to a different space dimension. Just like our MH370 that seems like it has entered there. Tomorrow, it will be back. This is because we have just spoken to them on the phone.

Mahakasyapa showed me a golden key that resembled a chopstick. When he handed the key to me, I felt electrical shocks from the key. Then, lightning appeared in the sky. Why is this? It is because the wind, rain, thunder, and lightning had arrived. What is the wind, rain, thunder, and lightning? The heavenly commanders, soldiers, and deities have descended from the heavens. Mahakasyapa waved his golden key and suddenly the world we were in disappeared. In front us, we saw an enormous golden mountain. Looking closer, it appeared to be an ice mountain. When we got closer, it seems to be a crystal mountain. It was transparent with mirror like surfaces that were made of crystals, lapis lazuli and glass. Although we had reached there, we could not get in. There were many Arahants standing outside the entrance to the mountain. We saw a handsome looking Elder Arahant, i.e., Ananda. He possessed extraordinarily good looks. Oliver, you are very much sub-par. Steven, you are no match to him. He looked sweet and pleasant, possess solemn form, always with a smile. Moreover, his demeanor and actions are very natural and gentle. No one can resist his gentleness and falls in love with him after seeing him. It is uncontrollable as one’s soul will fly away from their physical body and floats towards Ananda before binding him like a rope. What was that for? Is it not obvious to flirt with him? However, the effort will be in vain as his mind is still and unwavering. When he put his palms together, all ropes will be broken. All emotions and love vanish into thin air.

As we had reached the ice mountain, Mahakasyapa said to the retinue of Arahants, “He has come from thousands of miles away with affinity. He wants to meet the holy being.” After saying that, the tens of thousands of ice mountains disappeared. We saw a flat landscape of ice and snow. As we walked on the icy ground, we felt the softness of the snow on the ground. We smelt an intense aroma of sandalwood. We saw many heavenly flowers and phoenixes singing in the sky. What song were they singing, Kenny? They were singing, “Namo Sakyamuni Buddha, Sakyamuni Buddha, Sakyamuni Buddha. Om Muni Muni Maha Muni Sakyamuni Buddha Sri Hum.” It was just one line and all phoenixes were singing the same song. After that, many Bodhisattvas emerged from the back and they were led by Manjushri Bodhisattva and Samanthabhadra Bodhisattva. Manjushsri Bodhisattva rode a lion while Samanthabhadra Bodhisattva rode an elephant. Their lion is different to ours as they are much bigger in size. Do you know why? This is because their mind is broader, hence their size is bigger. You can also become bigger in size. It is rather easy, just have a broader mind. You can even become a Sumo wrestler after gaining size. We entered the ice mountain and many Bodhisattvas followed Manjushri and Samanthabhadra Bodhisattva. I saw Vajrapani Bodhisattva, Saraswati, Kalachakra, Krodhabhukumkuta, and many other vajras. Marichi who rode a wild boar was there too. Oliver, your best friend. It was very crowded with holy beings. How do we know? Their body emitted the fragrance of sandalwood, and they radiated golden light. Thirdly, they carried a pleasant smile on their face. Moreover, they did not need to walk as they can float to anywhere with a little movement of their body. This is because their body was very light as there were no footprints on the ground. We could only see light and translucent forms. In addition, their voices were very pleasant to the ears. Faye Wong is no match against them. Their singing voice was truly mesmerizing. I can guarantee that if you have been there, you will not want to come back. I regretted that I returned here that day as I should have stayed. I begged a thousand times to allow me to stay there as I do not desire to return to here. There were extraordinarily amazing qualities at that place, i.e. greater amazing quality, amazing in Abhiseka, amazing Mandalas, amazing Lineage, amazing hand mudras, amazing mantras, amazing dharma form, amazing wooden chanting blocks, amazing dharma tools, amazing vajras and so on. One cannot help but be filled with joy and happiness seeing them. I walked into the entrance and saw a seated great holy being. What is that place called? What Pure Land? Not Amitabha Buddha or the Western Pure Land. It is the Lapiz Lazuli Pure Land of Ultimate Purity and Light. Sakyamuni Buddha was there. He was the Lapiz Lazuli of Ultimate Purity and Light. His body was radiating bright light. The ground and everything else there was made of Lapiz Lazuli. Over there, the birds were phoenixes. There were other creatures such as “Qi Lin”, dragons, mermaids, Pegasus and so on. All of them could chant and chanted “Namo Ben Shi Sakyamuni Buddha. Sakyamuni Buddha”. He then transmitted a mantra to me. I can still remember that mantra till today. I felt great joy and happiness when I saw him. That was because he was appealing and charismatic. One cannot help but feel uncontrollably excited and happy when he just touched or looked at them. Whether it is woman, wealth, power and the world, all of them pales compared to a glance from him. That kind of feeling is indescribable. I felt immensely light as if I could just float away. Even after a long time since I had gone and returned here, that feeling still lingered within my mind and am unable to become detached from it. This is because I became very light, free of any afflictions, contented, with nothing to desire, request, and ask. Moreover, there is nothing to cultivate anymore as everything that needed to be trained has been successfully complete. This is because I had met him. His eyes transmitted all Buddha Dharma teachings to me. With just a single look. The 84,000 dharma gates had entered my brain. Hence, knowing all dharma, leaving behind all dharma, and there is no dharma to gain or possess anymore. I am the dharma form itself. Do you understand? Thus, all is dharma. It all depends on whether you possess the wisdom eyes. If you do, you can see I am glowing in bright light. He can capture it on his camera as smartphones can. You can watch the videos again and watch them slowly. You will see light radiating from my body. If you cannot, it is because you are still relying on your physical eyes. Watch the video over and over again. Have you seen it?
Hence, we have glimpsed on a holy being who possesses such amazing qualities, solemn, and with such Perfection. I approached him before he taught me a mantra. Do you want to hear it? “Iti pi so Bhagava-Araham Samma-sambuddho, Vijja-carana sampanno Sugato Lokavidu Anuttarro Purisa-damma-Sattha deva manussanam , Buddho, Bhagava.(The Nine Qualities of the Buddha). When one chants this mantra regularly, all their problems can be solved. When one chants this mantra regularly, there will feel limitless responses. Wherever they go to, they perceive every person they see to be glowing. When they look into the eyes of other people, they feel strongly that they are the future Buddhas. At present, they are the Bodhisattvas enduring suffering. They are entangled in the Loka-dharma. What is Loka-dharma? It is the greed, hatred, ignorance, doubt, and sloth-torpor, and the desires for wealth, form, fame, benefits, and sleep. Their five desires, and five poisons of the mind, are fettering them down. I can see them being tied by many ropes. Hence, every time I walk pass them, I wish that the rope can be untied. I aspire to transform into a tree of no worries and let everyone to lean on me. Lean on me so you are free from any mental afflictions and worries. I wish to transform into a bridge where I let you walk on me and become liberated. Thus, you can cross the sea of life and death to the Western Pure Land. I also wish to transform into a streetlamp that illuminates every street. May the streetlamp be bright so all sentient beings that see it will no longer be in fear. This is because the Buddha’s eyes are present. The streetlamps are the Buddha’s eyes that illuminate every street and road, i.e. the path towards liberation. I felt sorry for every insect I come across. I chant for them and wish them to be reborn in Pure Land soon and cease coming back to suffer in samsara. After saying that, all the insects fell and turned into lotus flowers. Hence, lotus flowers bloom everywhere, come and go without clinging and attachment, every step is a bodhi, taking steps towards the Western Pure Land, every step is a liberation, seeing Buddha in the morning, offering of flowers to Buddha, follow the teachings of Buddha, cultivate by learning to meditate in silence, follow the precepts to prevent making mistakes. These are our slogans. If you chant, say it out loud everyday, you mind will become clear and pure. After all, it is just one’s mind. As a cultivator of Buddha Dharma, we should be sincere and earnest. Therefore, those are my aspirations. I hope everyone of you can become a Buddha in the future. All of you possess the seeds of Buddha and Bodhisattva. You already possess “Bo Ye Zong Xiang Zhi”. I hope to see you attaining “Bo Ye Bie Xiang Zhi”, “Bian Tong Zhi,”,”Fang Bian Zhi”, “Hou De Zhi”, “Pu Sha Zhi” (The wisdom of Bodhisattva), :A Luo Han Zhi” (The wisdom of Arahant) in the future. In the future, I will reveal the more advanced “Yi Qie Zhi” (Sravaka and pratyekabuddha knowledge that all is empty in nature), “Dao Zhong Zhi” (Bodhisattva knowledge of all things in their proper discrimination), “Yi Qie Zhong Zhi” (Buddha knowledge of all things in their every aspect and relationship past, present, and future) one at a time. You shall be able to realize your wisdom and become awakened. Hence, you will know what “Bo Ye Zong Xiang Zhi” is. If you come to my cultivation center, sit on the floor, and listen to my dharma session, then you have the “Bo Ye Zong Xiang Zhi”. You return home and regularly practice the dharma gates I taught, i.e. “Dharma Cakra Bodhi Hum”. When you chant the mantra and practice the mudra, then you have attained the “Bo Ye Bie Xiang Zhi”. When you become enlightened in the future, then that is the time you have attained “Hou De Zhi” (Wisdom attained after). After that, you learned the countless dharma gates of convenience, then that is the time you have attained “Fang Bian Zhi” (Wisdom of convenience).
It is common to say one should be “Zhi Zhu Chang Le” (Happiness comes from contentment). We should feel this way when we come to our cultivation center. Not everyone has such honor and good luck to come here. Not everyone has the affinity to hear my dharma teachings. This is because I am a quiet person and not fond of talking. I am here because they forced me to do so. Truth is, I don’t like public speaking. After all, speaking for long periods of time increase the risks of being splattered by my saliva. One might be poisoned from the viruses in my saliva. Hence, I am forced to speak here, publicly. I am probably not in line to speak.
(Refer video for Master’s demonstration) Do you still remember this? This is the Samadhi of Meditating in silence. Next, is the Buddha Light that illuminates the world, followed by guiding all sentient beings to liberation and enlightenment. Let’s do this again. We can change the mudra like this. This is the mudra for rebirth in the Mid-level of the Upper Stage Lotus. This one is the Highest Level of the Upper Stage Lotus and the last one is the Lowest Level of the Upper Stage Lotus. This is known as the “Jin Gang Lian Hua” Paramita (Vajra Lotus Paramita). One will experience miracles when they do this mudra everyday. You will blame yourself when you look into the mirror 50 years later, saying “Why didn’t I become old? Why do I still look young? Why as if I look like 50 years go?” Look at Leslie and he still looked like when he was 5. He is 9 now but even a hundred years later, he will still look like this. He will still look like a baby, and you can carry him or put him in a crib. This is because he practices this mudra everyday. (Refer to video for master’s mudra demonstration) This is the rebirth at the Highest Level of the Upper Stage Lotus, this is the Mid Level of the Upper Stage Lotus and the final one is Lowest Level of the Upper Stage Lotus. Next life, we should not go downwards but ascend upwards. It is not fun being reborn down there. Why is this? There are lots of earthworms, mouse, cockroaches and such. It is better up there.
One who wishes to ascend must climb the “Tong Tian Ti” (the Stairs that Connect to the Heavens). How one climbs those stairs depends on their ability. What ability are we referring here? It is the cultivation of one’s merits and wisdom. How does one accumulate merits and wisdom? It can be done by making purchase request for this, i.e. the Bright Light Luck Transforming Talisman and the Medicine Buddha Vajra Lotus Pagoda Candle. By doing so, you gain the toll fare or the air ticket to board the plane. One day after you fainted, you wake up to see a plane waiting for you to board. After boarding, you realized that there are Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in it. They send you off to the Western Pure Land. See? This toll fare or air ticket is well worth buying. Perhaps you should buy a few more. If there are ten in your family, you should buy one for all of them. Buy all my stocks if you can so my business can flourish.

Vajrapani, Kalachakra, Ucchusma & Marichi

Mahakasyapa had once talked about this Vajra talisman. The Bright Light Luck Transformation Talisman is a Vajra talisman. I named the Luck Transformation talisman, and it is empowered by a vajra. Who is the Vajra who empowered this talisman? They are Vajrapani Bodhisattva, Kalachakra, Ucchusma, and Marichi. (Refer video for Master’s mudra) May all become Perfect and Complete, i.e. the Perfection of the mind, Perfection of thoughts, Perfection of behavior, and the Perfection of walking. When one walks without having any mental distractions, their cultivation is progressing towards the stage of Perfection. Perfection of the mind can be attained when one lives happily in contentment. When one’s mind is full of greed and wanting everything, they will end up with nothing. If one can get rid of their greed, and can let go completely, they are poised to gain everything. What will they gain? Eyes that can see, ears with good hearing, mouth that can eat well, nose that can breathe and smell, and limbs that enable me to travel anywhere. This is unlike me who is having trouble walking. Next time I am up here, I might have to come in a wheelchair. Kenny and Mr.Chin can help push me around. This is normal as I am old and am less agile. Therefore, when you can still walk, the two legs are like your pillars. You should cherish them. Please don’t end up in the hell realm where the legs will be sawed off. It is not because of diabetes but because of over consumption of meat.
To cultivate here, it is best that we stop eating meat, if possible. One who eats meat severs, breaks, destroys their seed of wisdom and accumulates their seeds of rebirth in the hell realm. They effectively break their wisdom, kindness, and their Perfection. Thus, they shall be bound for rebirth in the hell realm, in other words, the seeds of hell. (Refer video for Master’s mudra demonstration) Do this mudra everyday and chant the mantra, “Dharma Cakra Bodhi Hum”. You will receive some magical responses if you do this everyday.

Sakyamuni Buddha

After we entered the ice mountain, we saw Sakyamuni Buddha giving dharma discourse. He said, “Thousands of miles away. How far is Planet Earth from the Western Pure Land?” How far is the distance? Based on the size of our solar system, the distance is approximately 8.4 trillion solar systems away. Based on the measurement of human, the distance of 8.4 trillion solar systems is too distant away. However, in the perspective of Buddha, it is only a step away. If you are willing to cultivate, form this mudra, chant the name of Amitabha Buddha, make aspirations and wishes to believe in the existence of Buddha, are willing to be reborn in Pure Land, practice hand mudras, cultivate merits and wisdom, you are only one step away from Pure Land. It is not far at all. Our cultivation center has been in operation for many years. Many of our members had already passed away. They appeared in their children and grandchildren’s dreams and told them that Master had send them up. Hence, they can rest their mind and need not worry anymore. Some people had seen Buddhas outside their windows, some saw Buddhas in their room, and at their front door. These are not dreams but seeing with their own eyes. They entered their house and saw their parents who had passed away sitting in the living room. Behind their parents are the three holy beings of the Western Pure Land. There are many accounts of such miracles and there is no time to cover all cases.
I had an old friend whom I have not seen for some time. I missed him too. Recently, he is seeing me everyday. Take a guess at who he is. It is “Tung Tung”. Who is “Tung Tung” (Ah Lian’s dog that had passed away)? He used to follow Kenny and Mr.Chin’s group for chanting. Where is Tung Tung now? He is in the Western Pure Land, sitting on a white lotus. He visits me in the form of a dog regularly. After chatting with me, he would fly back to the heavens and transform back into a lotus flower. He is not in the form of dog anymore but as a lotus born child.

Video 3:
He said the following whenever he sees me. Take a guess at what he like to say. It is “Take refuge in Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. Make offerings to Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha.” Hence, the secret of all Buddhas is simply chant the Buddha’s name, recite the mantras, practice hand mudras, liberation, and let go. That is all to it. Do you think it something very complicated? That perception is due to your persistent stubbornness. Your mind of the past is the mind of persistent stubbornness. Your mind of the present is the mind of awakening. The mind of your future is the mind of enlightenment. This is the way we should be cultivating. The mind of the past has passed and whatever that was is not our concern now. In fact, we should let go of the mind of the past that had constantly create negative karma. On the other hand, the mind of the present has become awakened and enlightened. Finally, the mind of the future will be free of any afflictions and thus is the liberated mind. This process is a transcension. We should surpass our past whether in speaking or working. Look at us now. When we were at the old center, we had nothing. Now that we are here, we own everything. Our center has expanded from one shop-lot to two. How did this happen? The Buddha said, “Shi Zai Ren Wei” (It all depends on the will and action of the person). The cultivator of Buddha Dharma single-mindedly and earnestly wants to lead and guide everyone together. Wow, looks like we have a lot of questions today. I think if he doesn’t die first, I will.

Dharma Q & A Session

Someone has requested me to write them a poem. Since we have so many members here with us today, I shall do one that refer to all of you here.

You and me meet in the cloud;
Hand in hand we cross this snow mountain;
Go through cold winter by copying sutra;
Will meet again in three dharma assemblies under the dragon flower.

(Explanation of poem)

We were in the heaven prior to this. We aspired to bring salvation to other sentient beings, and were reborn in the human realm together. Holding hands, we crossed the snow mountains, i.e. the cultivation place that is also this world of five Turbidities or samsara. Copying sutra means we are truly cultivating and training. We experienced peak and trough in life, despair, hurt, were wounded. All these has passed, and we shall meet again in the three dharma assemblies under the dragon flower. When Maitreya Buddha descends onto this world, we shall cultivate with him again.

Someone is trying to play a joke on me. They want me to say something using only professional terms. The terms are Bachelors, Masters, and Professors. They want to test my wits. Steven, do you remember?
Bachelor’s degree is fighter’s hand;
Master’s degree is everywhere;
Doctoral degree is shivering;
Competition is stiff in business world.
There are too many talents hence everyone is facing heavy pressure. Hence, the professional terms are nothing more than names and labels.

I also wrote a poem for my old friend, the old dog next door.
The dog next door;
Wandering on the street;
Eating meat day and night;
Thought he is dashing but actually ugly.
This poem describes a person who is creating negative karma. They are like a wandering street dog. They eat meat day and night. They thought they look cool doing so. However, they didn’t know that they are revoltingly ugly.

Someone is giving me a test. This is their question, “Why is one happy when alive, and happy too when they are dead?” Buddha said, “This is because the Buddhas are here to receive them.” If Buddhas appear and lead me after my death, I am willing to go too.

“How do we spend our time everyday?” Say some happy things everyday, do some deeds that benefit all sentient beings everyday, read some books that improves our mind, bring salvation to some people with affinity with us everyday, and tell some Buddha stories that can touch people’s mind. This is how I spend my time. After all, I am just an ordinary old man.

“What is making aspiration?” Someone asked this question, “How do we make aspiration?” My answer is as follows, “With a “She Xin” (Upeksa or equanimity), create good affinity with other people. “She Xin” means letting go or discarding. With a “Jin Xin” (Pure mind), distant ourselves from sexual desires. With a “Chan Xin” (Zen mind), we pacify adversities. To cultivate in the world, it is with certainty that one will face many challenges and adversities. We shall pacify and endure them with “Chan Xin”. With a “Yuan Xin” (Vows and wishes), we create the Perfection and Completion. I vowed to attain the Perfection of wishes so I can create a more Perfected life.

Someone is testing me again and they ask, “What reaction should we have if we see a half-filled glass of beer?” There is half glass of beer on the table. Some people will be happy, thinking that the half glass of beer is a gift from heaven and free stuff is the best. On the other hand, other people might criticize that they get only half a glass, and it is not enough for them. What do I think? I will faint when I see or smell alcoholic drinks.

This is another test from someone. An old grandma brought a young child to see me. During consultation, I said, “This boy will need to rely on woman to make a living in the future.” Will the grandma become angry upon hearing this? Of course, she will. How do we resolve this? I once heard from a boy who told me that he wants to marry 500 girls. Why is this? He did not want to get married officially but just be together with the 500 girls. Thus, he can depend on them economically. This is a lack of responsibility. To the grandma, I added, “When he grows up, he will become an outstanding gynecologist. Many women will seek consultation from him, creating a queue of patients waiting to see him. Isn’t this depending on women to make their living?

This person wants me to finish the 2nd part of his poem as follows:
The water is flowing, the fishes are swimming,
Feel the freedom of happiness and optimism,
I will finish this poem with the following:
The wind is blowing and it’s raining, embrace and care in the present,
You and me, we have mutual affection, our long courtship continues till now,
The heaven and earth, both have love, let go of persistent stubbornness so we will have no worries.
Kenny, this is being quick-witted.

Someone asks, “How do we stop being angry?” Buddha said, “To cease anger, we must learn to clear our hot temperament. Dispose the hot temperament and anger. Regardless of how the other party’s pressure rises and force us, be unwavering. Seeing the world with gentleness and kindness, how can anger arise?

“The emotions of people, i.e. happy, angry, sad, joy, affects our body and breathing. How should we handle it?” Buddha said, “Don’t be adamant to win an argument. Don’t ruin the harmony. Let go of emotions and give rise to a happy mind. Thus, one can feel relief and breathe normally.”

“What is “Rong Ren” (forbearance)?” Mr.Chin? Let me answer this question.
Those who tolerate and give way, boundless sea and sky will be insight;
Those who tolerate humiliation will be broad-minded;
Those who tolerate anger will be in harmony and cheerful state;
Those who tolerate sufferings will have a beautifully bittersweet mind.

A wealthy man once said to me that even if he spends a million dollars everyday, his money cannot be exhausted for a thousand years. He is worth hundreds of billions in US dollars. Why is he still working now? Truth is, he does not need to work anymore. His employees numbered tens of millions. He is working to keep enriching himself through work. He works to get peace of mind and eliminate loneliness and boredom. He works to take care of society and to unleash the potential of life. Hence, I am still working now despite old age.

“What is busy?”
Busy building good affinity with people,
Busy adorning dharma center;
Busy promoting vegetarianism;
Busy leading the public to turn prayer wheel;
Busy cleaning Buddha statues;
Busy purifying the dirt of the mind;
Busy transferring merits through mantra chanting.
This is keeping us occupied and being busy. Everything we do is for the purpose of attaining liberation.

“How to avoid becoming a scorched bud and ruined seed?” Humans possess vile seeds. Buddha said, “Humans have limitless potential. A gold mine could be hidden in a forest or mountain. One must know how to explore, mine and become enlightened. One day, they can get rid of their evil seeds. Thus, this will benefit themselves and the society.”

“How to face challenges?” Buddha said, “Survival of the fittest, be calm and at ease in any situations. Hence, one can breakthrough and innovate. Thus, they can overcome all challenges.”

“What to wish for if one has only one leg left?” This is the situation when one becomes crippled and left with one leg only. Perhaps, they were born with one leg only. Buddha said, “Not wishing to grow a new leg but learn to work with the disability. Hence, they can still make a living despite being handicapped.”

These are all fundamentals of cultivation. However, when asked in an impromptu manner, I am sure you cannot answer them. On the other hand, (I could answer them) because I am focused on liberation. Every step I took, every sentence I spoke, and every time I am guiding sentient beings, I planted the Buddha Dharma deep into everyone’s mind. Hence as they come see me more often, they will eventually become vegetarian and start chanting. This is because during the dharma ending stage, Buddha Dharma cannot rely on other seeds, dharma gates, or methods. For example, Zen Buddhism requires great wisdom and root fundamentals.

“How to overcome difficult situations?” Difficult situations are not a dead end. The small fishes in the rapids swim against the current, showing their vitality. Thus, one must breakthrough their limits and become broad-minded. As such, they can overcome difficult situations.

“Why is the chair floating in the air?” When one’s mind is floating, everything else is floating too. When one’s mind is pure, the Land of Buddha becomes pure too. The chair is floating in the air because hungry ghosts are playing pranks on you. Have you experienced this? Some people here had witnessed such situations before. They brought me to see it too and we even got them recorded. It is true that things floated in the air. Not limited to chairs only, even mirrors, books, knives, tables, beds and so on.

Someone asks, “What is a life journey?” The highs and lows, the twists and turns, the smooth or dangerous times, will have to be experienced by ourselves. When you go through the situation personally, whether it is vicissitudes or grave danger, it is your life experience.

“What are the tastes of life?” Sweet, sour, bitter, or spicy, you will have to taste them yourself. There is no eternal winner nor true loser. It all follows the karmic causes and effects, and merits. Taking turns in samsara.

“How to stop war?” We can achieve long lasting peace if we replace aggression and force with compassion. How does war break out if everyone stops killing, substitute meat with vegetables and inculcate compassion? Purify the three karmas of body, speech, and mind. Synchronize the three tantras of body, speech, and mind. Thus, the war will stop.

Someone asks, “What is the source of their strength?” Crying is children’s source of strength. Beauty is women’s source of strength. Being pretty is their bargaining chip and weapon. Power is a leader’s source of strength. Wealth is the rich man’s source of strength. Compassion is Bodhisattva’s source of strength. What about me (your Master)? Skillful means in giving conveniences is my source of strength. It will often subdue the arrogant one and make the greedy and competitive ones realize their mistake. I can subdue them due to my higher wisdom.

Can you understand? “What kind of people will not succeed in their life?” Kenny? Mr.Chin? These are the kind of people who will never achieve success, i.e. those who sit idle and enjoy the fruits of other’s work, seek quick success and instant benefits, burning bridges, who like to fight and get into conflicts, loss of trust. They frequently don’t keep their promises. They made appointment with others but did not turn up. They lost their trusts and are truly in a mess. Can these individuals achieve success?

When I wanted to set up a dharma center in the past, many people gave sarcastic and discouraging comments. The journey was not smooth, and we met many obstacles and challenges. Many disciples followed my footsteps and together, we overcame all difficulties. Just like the waves in the ocean that rises and crashes down, we endured. Today, the project has been finally completed. We relied on the strength of many. This is from the cooperative and joint strength of everyone. It is a magical force that is united and pushes forward. With this, we managed to complete the building of our dharma center. It is not just me but also the strength of others. As the saying goes, a drop of water from each of you, accumulated to become the sea.

“What is cultivation?” Kenny? My reply is as follows, “Eliminate waste, don’t delay and postpone, don’t speak recklessly, don’t indulge in delusional thoughts, and don’t spit everywhere.” This is cultivation.

A bhikkhu is asking for my advice. Apparently, he cannot seem to let go. He should train his mind to let go of attachment, otherwise, he will be reborn in the three lower realms in the future. Firstly, let go of attachment, or else you will fall into the three evil realms. Let go of position and power, love and desires, jump out from the circle of gossips, enjoy the liberated life of going in accordance to conditions.

“How does human acquire happiness?” Make offerings to the Triple Gem and giving to all sentient beings. Hence, they may attain happiness.

Let me share this poem I wrote with you.
The heat from sun’s radiation brings warmth to people;
The fragrance from flowers brings joy to people;
The vast sea is inclusive, being viewed with importance by people;
Increasing compassion in life, being respected by people.

Are there any more questions? “What to do if you fall and fail many times in competitions?” Buddha said, “Analyse calmly. Identify the hindrances and obstacles. Stand up with courage and attempt again.”

Another person is asking me this question, “Where is the opportunity?” There is fragrant grass (good prospects) within a radius of ten steps. Each step is opportunity for breakthrough. The question is, can you do it? I have said, “Each step is a bodhi, every step heading towards the Western Pure Land. Each step is a liberation, meeting Buddha in the morning. Lotus flowers blooming everywhere, come and go without hindrances.”

“What is widely building good affinity with people?” A strand of silk doesn’t make a thread. A single tree doesn’t make a forest. Mutual tolerance and reliance, and unity of the people; Approach the public in joint hands. Advocate and encourage everybody towards Buddha, Dharma, and kindness. Thus, is widely building good affinity with people.

“What to do if you encounter ghost?” I shall answer this question. There was once when I visited a house to give Feng Shui consultation. It was a terribly haunted house with more than a hundred ghosts scattered everywhere including the 2nd floor, 1st floor, toilets, main door, and living room. When I entered the house, the ghosts were sitting in the living room and waved at me to approach them. They claimed to treat me coffee. However, when I looked closer, there was no coffee but just flies, cockroaches, lizards, worms, dead bodies and such. Do you know how I handled them? I approached them and took out a donation box before asking for donation. They disappeared without a trace afterwards. One donation box solved the problem. The ghosts were unwilling to donate; hence, they became hungry ghosts.

“What to do if your wife’s singing is horrible?” Open the door and invite all neighbors to listen to her performance. She will be very happy. Apparently, so many people like her singing.

Someone asks, “Why is this beggar wearing only one shoe?” This is true as I have personally seen a beggar crossing the road wearing only one shoe. Do you know why? This is because he had just picked up a shoe from the street.

“The beggar always think he is a king when he is drunk.” Buddha said, “He cries out loud when he is sober. This is because he realized that he is still a poor man.”

Are there any more questions? Kenny, let me test you on this. “What is samsara?” Samsara is a bowl of tears from infatuated love. Every person is reborn in samsara because they cannot let go and are entangled by love and relationships. There is kinship, family love, love of siblings, parents, and spouses. There are endless kinds of love and thus one become fettered down by them in samsara. In other words, samsara is nothing more than just a bowl of tears from infatuated love. It is just tears. When poured into ocean, even the taste of the sea become salty. Do you know now? This is because tears are a salty discharge from our eyes. “What is samsara?” If the love is one sided, it will not last. If wealth is gained through trickery and robbery, it will be lost in a short time. If reputation is earned through grandstanding, it will surely be despised by others. If the position is coveted by sitting idly and enjoy the fruits of other’s work, it will attract the whirlpool of gossips. One becomes lost in samsara and their mind dwells in samsara. As a result, it is immensely difficult for them to attain liberation.

In paying respects and homages to all Buddhas, we should wish for all sentient beings to become Buddha. Doing so, we will receive incomprehensible and magical responses. Hence, your confidence can be greatly increased. Did you see the Buddha statue at the back of the room? There is an extraordinarily tall and big one. Why do we build such a tall and big Buddha statue? This is because Buddha Dharma is everywhere in the space and void. It causes great joy to arise in sentient beings so they can stay away from creating negative karma. The bigger the Buddha statue that one makes, the broader their mind and heart is. Hence, when they are reborn in Pure Land, they will certainly be in the Highest Level of the Upper Stage Lotus. Buddha said, “Buddha statue is the Dharmakaya of Buddha. The virtues of paying respects and homages to Buddha statue is immeasurable. Hence, one can receive magical responses. This is certain as one can be liberated from pain and suffering, and their mind can become peaceful and calm.

I have mentioned many times about building Buddha statues. What are the merits of building Buddha statues? Firstly, our eyes faculty will be agile. In our next life, we will gain the supernatural powers of heavenly eyes and ears. For countless lifetimes in the future, we will study Buddha Dharma in depth and train our faculties of eyes, ears, nose, mouth, body, and mind. We will gain the ability to debate without hindrances. Free from clinging and attachment to samsara. We will possess strong influences over other people and never to regress and rebirth into the three lower realms. We will be reborn in Pure Land in every lifetime in the future. We will gain immeasurable merits and can bring salvation to countless sentient beings. We can become a Vajra dharma king, the Nectar Dew Dharma King, or “Xin Wan Ru Lai”.

In truth, I think this Q & A session is very boring, at least to me personally. However, it is not right for me to not answer the questions. Why is this? This is because “every question is a bodhi, every answer leads to liberation”. Moreover, “every question leads to enlightenment, every answer helps one to become Buddha”. Do you understand? “Every question represents freedom; every answer is free from any afflictions”. “Every question leads to rejoice; every answer is solemn”. This is how we should cultivate. We cultivate to make our dharma center solemn. We should guide and lead sentient beings so they can attain the form of Buddha and be liberated from the pain and suffering of reincarnation. What is Zen? Kenny? (Refer to video) This is Zen as I am cultivating merits and wisdom. This is also Zen. It is interaction and communication between a layperson and a holy being. This is also Zen where there is Bodhisattva and Arahant. This is also Zen where we enter a different space dimension. There was once when my Master brought me and ventured deep into the jungle. I saw a mango tree and climbed up it to pluck mangoes. After reaching the top of the tree, I found no mangoes. However, I saw many nagas standing up there instead. Suddenly, the tree became enormous in size. “The spiritual tree reaches the heavens, the ground turned translucent.” Do you know what translucent is? It is like transparent. When one’s mind is pure and free of defilement, their mind is like lapiz lazuli. With a calm and peaceful mind, there will be no restlessness. One’s mind is restless and agitated only by their own doing. They overthink and make things too complicated. Hence, they attract that kind of karmic obstacles to bind them. Thus, I have said that everyone is living in a cage. We should open the cage door. What happen after that? Everyone will be rushing to the restaurant like ferocious tigers descending the hill. You can see for yourself later at Guang Ming Restaurant downstairs. It is a scene of rushing for food.
(Refer video for Master’s demonstration) Let us revise the mudra and mantra. “Dharma Cakra Bodhi Hum. Dharma Cakra Bodhi Hum. Dharma Cakra Bodhi Hum”. I want to go home.

The Nine Qualities of Buddha

Itipi so Bhagava Araham, Samma-Sambuddho, Vijja-Carana Sampano, Sugato, Lokavidu, Anuttaro Purisa Dhamma Sarathi, Sattha Deva-Manussanam, Buddho, Bhagava.

  1. accomplished (araham)
  2. fully enlightened (sammā-sambuddho)
  3. endowed with clear vision and virtuous conduct (vijjā-carana-sampanno)
  4. sublime (sugato)
  5. the knower of worlds (lokavidū)
  6. the incomparable leader of men to be tamed (anuttaro purisa-damma-sārathi)
  7. the teacher of gods and men (satthā deva-manussānam)
  8. enlightened (buddho)
  9. blessed (bhagavā)

We will now consider the meaning of each of these terms.

1. Accomplished (Araham)

The word araham (the worthy one or saint) is a conjugation of the better-known word Arahant, which refers to those who have reached the highest, namely the fourth and final stage of liberation. In the verse it is indicated that the Buddha was an Arahant. In principle, anyone who has achieved complete liberation on the basis of the path taught by him is also a Arahant. But the Buddha was the first, the highest, the most skillful. According to the Visuddhimagga, one of the most valued Buddhist works, araham further has the following five meanings. The Buddha is araham because he:

  1. stands far away (araka) from the mental defilements (kilesa),
  2. has destroyed the enemy (ari), namely the mental defilements, and therefore he is accomplished (arahanta)
  3. has destroyed all spokes (ara) of the wheel of rebirth (ara-ham),
  4. is worthy (araha) to receive gifts (araham),
  5. can do no harm, even in secret (rahabhava).

2. Fully Enlightened (Sammā-Sambuddho)

The Buddha was fully awakend because he understood the straight path of the Four Noble Truths. He fully and correctly understood what had to be understood (unsatisfactoriness), left behind what had to be left behind (the cause of unsatisfactoriness), achieved what had to be achieved (the end of unsatisfactoriness), and developed what had to be developed (the path leading to the end of unsatisfactoriness).

He has rediscovered the Dhamma, the truth or true nature of things, the universal laws, on his own, without a teacher who has shown him the way. This distinguishes him from anyone who understands these same truths by their own effort afterwards, for as long as sāsana (the teaching of the Buddha) exists it is always practiced on the basis of the way the Buddha taught.

3. Endowed with Clear Vision and Virtuous Conduct (Vijjā-Caraṇa-Sampanno)

Vijjā means (higher) knowledge, and caraṇa good behavior (or practice) that gives direction to a noble disciple and leads him to immortality (Nibbāna).

In general, perfection in vijjā does not mean that the Buddha was omniscient about all things at all times. However, he could know everything he wished by directing his mind towards it. In this sense, he was omniscient because there was nothing in the universe that he could not have known if he wished to do so. The knowledge of  ‘ordinary’ Arahants depends on the depth of their concentration and insight, but no Arahant can match the full knowledge of a Buddha.

However, the ancient scriptures (for example, the Sāmaññaphala Sutta) also mention specific things when it comes to the Buddha’s vijjā. His ability to remember countless past lives and to see the place of rebirth of other beings after their death. His knowledge (and skill) of the supernatural powers resulting from concentration such as multiplying one’s own body, being able to walk through obstacles such as walls and mountains, to fly, to walk on water, and the divine eye and ear with which things far away and near can be seen and heard in all worlds. Also, the Buddha could know like no other the minds and qualities of other beings.

The most important knowledge, however, is the knowledge of destroying the impurities (kilesa’s) that keep us trapped in samsāra (the endless wandering from life to life). Destroying the kilesa is equivalent to reaching Nibbāna¸ the liberation of samsāra.

Carano, the behavior of the Buddha in general, was perfect. He could not show any behavior that was harmful to himself or other beings. His behavior was always fully in accordance with the Dhamma. The latter, by the way, applies to all Arahants, an Arahant cannot behave immorally.

Thus, the Buddha never showed misbehavior, was moderate in eating and sleeping, was always mindful with full energy and guarded his senses with full effort at all times, and he possessed the highest mastery of concentration and the jhānas.

4. Sublime (Sugato)

Sugato can most literally be translated as ‘he who has reached the right destination’, a reference to achieving the bliss of Nibbāna. Therefore, sugato can also be translated as ‘the Lucky One’, or sublime,  and in that sense it is often used as a name for the Buddha.

According to the Visuddhimagga, however, sugato has more meanings. The Buddha is sugato because he has traveled the path in the right way, he has gone to a good place, he has traveled the path irreversibly, and because he speaks correctly.

The meaning is therefore twofold. First, sugato is a reference to the blissful Nibbāna, the good destiny the Buddha reached and in this sense it also refers to the very beneficial effect on the world that his awakening had through the teaching he gave to others to walk this path themselves. Second, the Buddha only spoke what was true, correct, and beneficial during his teaching.

5. The Knower of Worlds (Lokavidū)

The Buddha saw with his mind all the worlds, whether they were far away or close by. By all worlds we mean on the one hand all the planets and the like in our universe (the Buddha taught that there are thousands of world systems in our universe where life exists), on the other hand all spheres of existence from the underworlds to the immaterial heavenly realms. Through his supernatural ability, the Buddha could manifest himself in all these worlds, in all locations.

However, not only did he know all locations, but with his mind, divine eye and ear he could know all beings he wanted to know, and see and hear what he was directing his attention to. He is therefore the knower of all locations and all beings.

A third meaning is that next to the literal worlds he also saw through the world of conditioned formations (saṅkhāra) completely. The arising and decay of all things and the path to liberation from the conditioned, namely the unconditioned Nibbāna.

6. The Incomparable Leader of Men to be Tamed (Anuttaro Purisa-Damma-Sārathi)

Anuttaro means as much as unparalleled, purisa-damma refers to those who receive the gift of Dhamma and sārathi means guide or leader. The Buddha could, like no other, fully attune his teaching to the listener. He had the greatest possible knowledge of people’s tendencies and paramis (high mental qualities) and could adapt his teachings specifically to this. Sometimes he taught with a single gesture or a single sentence, sometimes with a long speech, sometimes with a whole series of speeches or long guidance.

If someone had the parami’s to understand the Dhamma, the Buddha could teach them. Where ordinary people would soon give up, the Buddha possessed infinite mettā (loving-kindness), karunā (compassion), muditā (mercy) and upekkhā (equanimity) with which he accompanied his disciples.

7. The Teacher of Gods and Men (Satthā Deva-Manussānam)

Where ordinary people or teachers sometimes try to make contact with devas (divine beings) in order to receive instruction from them, the reverse is true for the Buddha. Creatures from all worlds, including the kingdoms of heaven, came to him for instructions. Even the highest gods saw in the Buddha a teacher who could help them.

Apart from honorable people, ascetics, and beings from the higher heavenly realms, however, among his listeners were also known assassins such as Angulimala, Alwaka and Nalagiri, hundreds of robbers, cannibals and so on.  The Buddha could lead all these creatures to the safe harbor of Nibbāna.

That makes him the unsurpassed teacher of men and gods.

8. Enlightened (Buddho)

Buddho initially seems to be a repetition of the second quality sammā-sambuddho. In that sense it is also the same grammatical conjugation of buddha or Buddha that is used in the second quality.

Here, however, buddho specifically refers to being awakened, having discovered the truth. The Buddha has fathomed the Four Noble Truths and has completed the Eightfold Path. Whereas sammā-sambuddho emphasizes the right way and the full and independent aspect of his awakening, buddho emphasizes the awakening itself and the Buddha’s ability to teach others the path to this awakening.

Where the ordinary citizen of the world does not realize that he is being lived by moha (ignorance), lobha (desire or desire) and dosa (anger), and so is caught in a kind of sleeping state in the infinite round of samsāra, the Buddha has awakened from this slumber.

Another way to translate buddho is as ‘the one who knows’. This is the translation that the forest monks from northern Thailand often use when they focus on buddho during meditation. The idea is that this knowing also comes up in the practitioner.

During samatha meditation on buddho as we practice it, buddho refers to all the qualities mentioned in this text because all these qualities are part of the awakened mind of the Buddha, which is what buddho essentially refers to.

9. Blessed (Bhagavā)

This, together with buddho, is the most commonly used name of the Buddha, sometimes even composed as buddho bhagavā.

‘Blessed’ is above all a term that expresses the deep respect and tribute to him as the highest of all beings in all worlds, distinguishing himself from all beings by his special qualities such as the highest possible dominion over his mind and body and the deepest and most subtle understanding of Dhamma (truth).

It is for this reason that the Buddha is rightly honored as bhagavā.
